Welcome to World History AP (WHAP)! We are so excited to have you in class this year. You are the best of the best, and we're lucky to be your teachers! Despite what you've heard, WHAP is a very manageable course...you just have to stay on top of things and ask us for help whenever you need it!
Tonight/before class tomorrow, we would like you to:
-Get your materials, especially your 5-subject spiral!
-Get your AP letter signed
-Get your CFISD password changed (must be done on a school computer)
We will be helping you join our Google Classrooms tomorrow in class. There, you will be able to find a lot of helpful information and attachments. However, please use this blog for the calendar at the bottom! It will tell you your reading assignments and any upcoming major grades!
Your first reading quiz is scheduled for September 12th. If you keep up with the pages as we assign them, it's not hard to stay on top of things! To help you do this, we have scanned PDFs of the first set of reading pages. You will be able to access these PDFs via your Google Classroom. Remember, your notes must be in your own handwriting and must be taken in the 3rd section of your 5-subject spiral notebook.
If you're worried about reading notes, come in and ask us for help! We'll be doing reading note tutorials each day after school for the first two weeks.
Eventually, you will have to read from the online textbook. You can access this the same way you access textbooks for your other classes, but you will need the access code given to you in class. Ask your teacher if you lost it! Once you put in the access code, you will have to create a log-in to read the textbook. See your teacher if you run into any issues.
Looking forward to a great year, Wildcats!

Helpful Review Resources- UPDATED
Hey there, WHAP warriors! It's that time of year when we have to begin thinking about how to prepare for the upcoming AP exam. We will be doing a TON of review in class. However, it is critical that you spend time outside of class studying if you want to earn a 3, 4, or 5. To that end, here are some helpful review resources. There are brief descriptions included for each so you can choose the ones that best target your areas that could use improvement. The ones we think are MOST valuable have an asterik (*) beside them. Most of these resources are free, but some require you to purchase them. Please understand that you are NOT required to purchase any outside materials, although we encourage you to if it's possible.
If you use any other resources that you find helpful, let us know and we can add it to the blog!

Essay Practice-we will be going over this in class Wednesday-Monday, but you will not get to work with all the prompts in class. You could use this power point to do extra practice at home.

***Teacher-Provided Review Packet
This is a helpful resource if you are unable to purchase your own review book. It contains a lot of content terms, graphics, and helpful ways to divide up the content of this course by time periods. Obviously, these files are very lengthy, so you can print what you need on your own printer or at the library, or you can choose to use these on electronic devices. These links will not work on a school computer due to the wikispace being blocked. However, you can access them on my CFISD teacher page by visiting the Cy Woods website and looking at the faculty page links.

***iScore5-available in the App Store
Great review resource designed for AP exams, but it costs about $5.
***Review Books
AP review books are incredibly helpful, if you have the resources to purchase one. However, the most popular one of previous years, the Princeton book, has NOT been updated to reflect the changes for the 2018 exam. If you already have one, that's ok because the content is the same! However, the details for the SAQ, LEQ, and DBQ have changed slightly. The only review books I could verify that had been updated are the ones made by AMSCO and Kaplan. Both are linked below.

Online Multiple Choice for May 3-4
On Thursday and Friday in the lab, we will be doing a practice multiple choice online using the link below:
http://barronsbooks.com/ap/worldhist/index.html
You will need to take the test in "practice mode," allowing you to take notes and check your answers as you go. You should read the question and answer by clicking on the choice you think is best. Record you answer on a sheet of notebook paper. Then, you can click "show answer" at the bottom to see if you are right and read the explanation. Take notes over the explanation and use this as a content review and a practice test. You will turn in your answers and your explanations. Your grade will be based off of your effort, not your accuracy.
At the end of class on Thursday, you will need to write down the number you left off on. On Friday, you will reopen the test, but you will click on the button on the bottom left that says "Jump to Question" and pick the one you left off with on Thursday. Then, you will continue taking the test. If you finish early, please note that there is writing practice included in this online test as well. You could work on that if you finish early.
