Happy Holidays!

Hey there, WHAP warriors!

Even though finals week is chaotic, Ms. Jones and I wanted to take a moment to reflect on the past semester and thank you all for the wonderful experience we've had with you over the last 4 months. We know it has been a struggle at times, and it may have been a stressful journey, but you have each accomplished so much through your hard work and dedication to this class. We are very proud of you, and we feel incredibly blessed to be your teachers and to get to work with such bright minds every day.

We wish you all the best of luck on all your finals and hope you all have a happy, safe, joyful, and RELAXING holiday!

See you in 2015!

Love,
Ms. Jones and Ms. Gillihan

Big Week in WHAP-Important Reminders!

Hi WHAP warriors!

We have a big week and a half coming up in WHAP, so here are some important reminders:

1. We have a major grade compare/contrast essay tomorrow over the fall of empires. You may use your compare/contrast "how to" sheet and a 3x5 notecard, front only, on your essay. If you do not pass, you can choose to use your one retest per six weeks on this.

2. We have our third and final reading quiz of the 6 weeks on Monday, 9/29 over pages 93-106, 90-91, and the Crash Course Christianity. This is an assessment grade. Remember, your lowest assessment grade can be replaced by doing the extra credit storybook assignment. Check your green sheet for due dates.

3. We have our first multiple choice exam (and final major grade) next Wednesday, October 1st. We will get your grades in for you by 7th period. If you fail and choose to use your one retest on this exam, it must be completed by Friday afternoon, October 3rd. Please start adjusting your schedule if you think you might want to do this. We will be offering retests on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday afternoons (October 1st, 2nd, and 3rd).

Let us know if you have any questions!

Tomorrow's the Big Day!!

Well, WHAP warriors, you've made it. Tomorrow is the big day, the day we've been working towards all year. Ms. Jones and I are SO PROUD of you for sticking with this class all year and being such exceptional students. We know you will go into that test tomorrow and conquer it the same way you've conquered class all year. We want you to believe that, too! Be confident....you've got this!

A couple of helpful hints for tomorrow:

1. STOP STUDYING! If you must, go home and study this afternoon, but cut it off at 9:00 PM! Trust me, the one or two facts that you'll cram into your head will not be worth the lack of sleep and the anxiety that you'll give yourself by having an all-night cram session! Again, cut it off at 9:00, do something for an hour or so that you find relaxing, and then GO TO BED! Sleep will help more than you think tomorrow!
2. Eat a good breakfast in the morning! Protein is always a good idea (think eggs or breakfast meat of some kind)! DO NOT FILL UP ON COFFEE! This will make you jittery and anxious, and it will also make you have to use the restroom more quickly.
3. Report to the gym as soon as you get to school! I know you don't have to be there until 7:30, but get there early! That way you'll be settled in and ready to go, not rushing around trying to get to your test. They will not wait for you if you are late!!!
4. Bring the following items: a jacket, two non-mechanical pencils, and two blue or black pens. You can also bring water and/or a snack for your break, but you cannot have these in the testing room with you.
5. Go in with CONFIDENCE! If you believe you can do it, you'll do it!!!!

Remember, you will get a free day on Friday. If you would like to bring snacks/drinks to share with the class, go for it!

Again, Ms. Jones and I are so proud of you, and we know you will do great tomorrow!
